In the wake of the untimely passing of Bruce Lee, numerous films sprang up starring lookalikes under the names of Bruce Li, Bruce Le, and Bruce Leong, creating an entirely new genre unto itself: Brucesploitation. Among these films, THE DRAGON LIVES AGAIN stands as perhaps the most outstandingly weird entry. To wit...

Bruce Lee (portrayed here by Leung Siu-lung aka Bruce Leong) awakes in Hell where he quickly makes a very powerful enemy by insulting The King of the Underworld. Soon after, he meets Popeye the Sailorman (yes, that one…) and The One Armed Swordsman in a local bar. The unlikely trio then face off with a vicious coup-plotting cartel of surprisingly specific pop-culture icons including Dracula, James Bond, Zatoichi, Clint Eastwood, The Godfather, The Exorcist, and even the infamous ‘70s softcore character Emmanuelle.

Simultaneously a testament to the hunger for more from the king of 70’s martial arts films and a strange cultural time capsule, the genre-bending and unpredictable THE DRAGON LIVES AGAIN is a true wonder to behold. Whether you love Bruce Lee or just want a completely unforgettable moviegoing experience, don’t miss this very special screening of the film’s new transfer from the excellent people at the American Genre Film Archive.

Contest: "Popeye The Sailorman Contest" with prizes.
