In the summer of 1990, an intentional community emerges at the foot of the Andes amidst post-Pinochet, socio-political upheaval. Coming of age with newfound freedoms, Sofía and Lucas, both 16, navigate first love and flirt with their own autonomy, while 10-year-old Clara searches for the security of a lost companion. As the community prepares to celebrate New Year’s Eve and idyllic independence far from the painful reminders of life beneath a brutal military dictatorship, their resourcefulness is tested by an unexpected event.

“Writer-director Dominga Sotomayor moves fluidly between the characters, advancing a ghostly, disembodied perspective that somehow manages to generate a subtly erotic sense of fascination.” —Ben Sachs, Chicago Reader

“With this gorgeously textured childhood memoir, Chilean filmmaker Dominga Sotomayor became the first-ever woman to win the best director prize in Locarno.” —Boyd van Hoeij, Hollywood Reporter

“The slow trickle of circumstances echo the textured narrative techniques of fellow Latin American auteur Lucrecia Martel, whose 2001 debut LA CIÉNAGA similarly lingered in the minutiae of relatives adrift in their insular community.” —Eric Kohn, IndieWire
