Weary of his hometown’s annual celebratory routine - Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, stumbles through a portal to Christmas Town. Smitten with the holiday, he longs to spread the joy of Christmas and enlists the denizens of Halloween Town to help but his interpretation of Christmas and attempt to execute the merry mission jeopardizes both the holiday and Santa’s life, creating a nightmare for good little boys and girls everywhere.

“Part avant-garde art film, part amusing but morbid fairy tale, it is a delightfully ghoulish holiday musical that displays more inventiveness in its brief 75 minutes than some studios can manage in an entire year.” —Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times

“One of the many pleasures…is that there is not a single recognizable landscape within it. Everything looks strange and haunting…the director of the film, a veteran stop-action master named Henry Selick, is the person who has made it all work. And his achievement is enormous.” —Roger Ebert (1993)
