Part of Universal Monsters + Restored Halloween Classics.

Deathly ill Count Dracula (Udo Kier) and his slimy underling, Anton (Arno Juerging), travel to Italy in search of a virgin’s blood. They’re welcomed at the crumbling estate of indebted Marchese Di Fiore (Vittorio De Sica), who’s desperate to marry off his daughters to rich suitors. But there, instead of pure women, the count encounters incestuous lesbians with vile blood and Marxist manservant Mario (Joe Dallesandro), who’s suspicious of the aristocratic Dracula.

Another product of Andy Warhol’s pop art kingdom, we’re excited to be screening this brand new restoration of the infamous film in conjunction with the release of Todd Haynes’ THE VELVET UNDERGROUND (Fri-Thu, Oct 15-21).

“The whole film operates at an intersection between serious Euro-horror and the theatre of the absurd, with the most ridiculous elements played straight. [UdoKier’s accent may be incongruous to the character’s Romanian origins, but it’s so tonally perfect for the film that it deserved its own listing in the credits—as does [Joe] Dallesandro’s equally incongruous New York accent.” —Stephen Bjork, The Digital Bits
