Description

Part of Midnight Movies

When scientist Seth Brundle (Jeff Goldblum) completes his teleportation device, he decides to test its abilities on himself. Initially, Brundle appears to have undergone a successful teleportation, but unbeknownst to him, a housefly slips in during the process, leading to a merger of man and insect. Soon, the fly’s cells begin to take over his body. As he becomes increasingly fly-like, Brundle’s girlfriend (Geena Davis) is horrified as the person she once loved deteriorates into a monster. David Cronenberg’s chilling remake of the 1958 cult classic stands as one of the grandest WTF romances of all time.

“THE FLY is that rare species of movie — a remake that far surpasses the original and, quite frankly, all expectations.” —Boston Globe

“A mass-market, horror film masterpiece that is also a work of art; it is the very movie the timorous feared ALIENS would be — a gruesome, disturbing, fundamentally uncompromising shocker that accesses the subconscious.” —Globe and Mail (Toronto)

“As a remake, THE FLY transcends the original, taking it in new directions and exploring its underutilized potential.” —TV Guide
