Part of Music City Mondays.
We’re black again for another edition of Pizza and a Movie. POETIC JUSTICE, John Singleton’s (RIP to the GOAT) follow up to Boyz n the Hood, features a legendary cast of Joe Torry, Tupac Shakur, Janet Jackson and Regina King. Still grieving after the murder of her boyfriend, hairdresser Justice (Janet Jackson) writes poetry to deal with the pain of her loss. Unable to get to Oakland to attend a convention because of her broken-down car, Justice gets a lift with her friend, Iesha (Regina King) and Iesha's postal worker boyfriend, Chicago (Joe Torry). Along for the ride is Chicago's co-worker, Lucky (Tupac Shakur), to whom Justice grows close after some initial problems. But is she ready to open her heart again?
POETIC JUSTICE is also featured as a part of our ongoing Music City Mondays. This film's soundtrack was a success, making it to #23 on the Billboard 200 and featuring three charting singles as well as Usher's first official appearance on a song at the age of 14. Janet Jackson's song "Again” received Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations for Best Original Song .
Arrive early to catch the music videos from the soundtrack, alongside some local talent during pre-show while you grab your pizza!
