Part of Camp Belcourt

Tue, June 20 at 8:00pm: Introduction from Belcourt special projects associate Sheronica Hayes

In this reimagining of the 1961 film, identical twins Annie and Hallie (Lindsay Lohan) are strangers until happenstance reunites them at summer camp. Their divorced parents, Nick (Dennis Quaid) and Elizabeth (Natasha Richardson), are living on different continents, each raising one child independently. After discovering their kinship, American-raised Hallie and British-raised Annie engineer an identity swap, giving both the chance to live with the parent they’ve missed. If their scheme goes to plan, the divided family may be made whole again.

“Movies like this remember how much fun escapism can be.” —Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times (Jul 29, 1998)

“Trading off English and American accents, and flouncing through about as many costume changes as there were in ''Evita'' (both films have the same costume designer, Penny Rose), Ms. Lohan easily makes it credible that the two girls could switch places and hornswoggle their credulous parents.” —Janet Maslin, New York Times (Jul 29, 1998)
