A teenage girl (Miley Cyrus) with an overbearing father (Billy Ray Cyrus) and a dark secret which threatens to sublimate her own identity (pop star Hannah Montana) is investigated in her rural hometown — and a lost piece of jewelry might be the key to unwinding her intertwined persona in this big screen follow-up to a beloved TV series.

OK… We’re gonna level with you here, folks: this pairing is a bit of a stretch. But it’s the 15th anniversary of this locally-produced, Tennessee-set shot of Disney Channel nostalgia — and frankly, Miley’s one we’re proud to call our own. There’s another pretty famous chanteuse of current globe-dominating import who also makes a cameo, but we wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise.

"Were it not for David Lynch… Miley would never have been Hannah Montana." —Billy Ray Cyrus

“You might be rather surprised at just how likable the bubblegum teen romance of HANNAH MONTANA: THE MOVIE actually is. And this is due in no small part to the superior comic acting chops of amiable bow-legged songbird, Miley Cyrus.” —Alan Mack, Little White Lies

“This Disney film is a hand-tooled, eight-cylinder charm offensive: the landscape is ravishingly shot, the songs are cute and the plot moves from slapstick to romance at a cracking pace.” —John Walsh, Independent

“I'm almost embarrassed at how entertained I was.” —Katey Rich, CinemaBlend
